Mountropolis is the second LP by Colorado ska outfit The Alcapones, recorded over summer and fall of 2016 at the idyllic Goat House Records outside of Jamestown, CO. The songs were freely composed over the past three years, inspired by ska and reggae music, staying up all night to see the sunrise, and communing with the old ones. The goal of this album is to capture the live energy and spirit that The Alcapones have come to embody - music with fast, frenetic beats, gushing hornlines, and a heartfelt positive message. The album reflects a love for the ska-tone developed in 1960s Jamaica as well as influences from jazz to bluegrass. The band was able to secure the talent of music producer and meditation guide Robert Tarantino, who helped shape the insanity and craft a quality product. The band reached out to artist, long time collaborator, and earth love facilitator Franki Zinke in order to visually capture the essence of the music and message for the album art.
